Mama speaks out! Kerry Washington Nnamdi Asomugha on Saturday, October 23, the first time she has publicly addressed the birth of their son.

“I saw all your very kind & thoughtful congratulatory tweets,” she added, in a nod toward her fans’ excitement over her newborn. “So yeah 😍 we thank you. Xo.”
The passionate actress also went on to address the recent shooting death of Deborah Danner, sharing several tweets about the horrific incident.
“Also the loss of #DeborahDanner has rattled my core,” she wrote. “Not only because of painful truth that we must continue to affirm that #BlackLivesMatter but also because #DeborahDanner was killed in the community where I was raised. Community filled w/people I know & love. So when I #sayhername my heart aches. For lives lost and for the lives we must protect. For the humanity we must work to illuminate and preserve and affirm. #BLM.”
She also sent out a message telling fans to go see the movie Moonlight, a coming-of-age tale that she described as "artful food for your soul," before concluding with a final tweet that said "End of rant."
Washington and NFL player Asomugha, 35, on Wednesday, October 5. They are also parents to daughter Isabelle, 2.
In September, the famously private star opened up to Entertainment Tonight to share how she was feeling about adding another baby to her brood. “I’m an only [child] so every time the family grows it brings up a little bit of anxiety,” she said at the time. “But it’s fantastic. I’m really happy.”
When asked by Marie Claire last year what her biggest hope is for Isabelle, Washington got thoughtful, tying in her passion for social activism and her love for her daughter.
